When I was 11 or 12 I joined this book club for girls called TL-Klubben. I think I was a member for five years or something. I would recieve a package once a month with two books and a lot of girly stuff in it.
I did read most of the books that I got from the book club, and some of them made a bigger impact on me than others. Especially the books written by Lurlene McDaniel. She writes about teenagers and young adults who face life-altering situations (mostly illnesses like cancer or HIV). The books are very honest, realistic and the stories leave you with a big impact.
My favourite books by Lurlene McDaniel are the books about Dawn Rochelle. Dawn is 13 when she is diagnosed with lukemia and we follow her in five books as she is fighting the illness while going trough puperty and into adult life. She is facing every day challenges at school as a teenager, but she also has to deal with what comes with having cancer and to have to be around people who also are sick. The book club I was a member of only puplished the two first books, so I didn’t learn until recently that there in fact are three more books! So of course I had to get those too.
