New place to call home
Monday, 10 September 2012

I’ll post more pictures of this place once I’m all settled, but here is a little preview!
The laundry has been hung up for drying, pictures of my friends are on the wall and I’m ready to sleep in my new bed for the first time. Moved in to my room in Margaret Rule Hall today and so far I’m liking it, even though the whole building smells like chlorine, there are way too many long corridors and the carpet floor is disgusting. But it’s charming in it’s own way and it’s much bigger than I thought it would be. I can fit all of my stuff in here and so much more. There is even space on the floor if someone wants to come over for three nights (that’s how long I’m allowed to have a visitor). And for the first time in my life I have my very own bathroom! Plus since I am located in the very end of the building I have THREE windows! Most rooms have one window, so I’m super lucky. The kitchen (which I share with six other people) is also very big!
Spent all day today carrying my stuff from the hotel to the room, cleaning and finding places for everything. And I bought some pretty soap holders and other items to keep in my bathroom. And I also bought a handy drying rack (the dryer in the laundry room costs £1.20 to use every time, though I’d be a money saver) and a basket to keep all of my dirty laundry in it.
Right now I’m all alone on this floor, but not in the building as I saw some more lights from the other floors. I think one of my roomies’ arriving from Hong Kong tomorrow and then some more British people are coming next week. There are still two persons I don’t know who are, so I’m excited to see when they’ll show up.
So far, so good. Still enjoying Portsmouth and getting to know many new people every day. And I’ve been invited to a birthday party on Friday, which will be a lot of fun I think.
