Me and big bro’.
I am never cutting my hair this short again. Too curly!
13th of May 2007. The day of my confirmation. I cannot believe it has been six years already! Six years since the day most Norwegian kids wait for, because of all the presents, family visits and money.
I still remember the day like if it was yesterday. Everybody kept telling me after my confirmation I would be a “grown up” and that I could go to parties and have more responsibilities. I didn’t want to grow up, so I got up really early that day and watched The Hunchback of Notre-Dame and Anastasia. Two of my all-time favorite movies (later of course, I realized I didn’t have to grow up if I didn’t want to, and I still watch Disney movies to this day, mahaha).
Afterwords I put on my bunad (Norwegian national costume) and went to church for the confirmation. Later we had a big party with a lot of family members with my favorite foods and cakes. A few people even held speeches (I didn’t, I’m no good at that stuff). Some drove for five hours to get there, and left the same evening. I received many nice presents and around 14.000NOK. Happy days!
Now, there isn’t many confirmations left in my family. From next year I will have to attend one every year for two of my cousins, my brother and my sister. And then they are all grown up. Time is going by so fast!
